Dorset Garden Design
As Dorset's leading Garden Design Practice, we understand that choosing the right garden designer for your project is a big decision. That's why we like to share the design process with you, from start to finish. Visit our Podcast Lounge to see our latest 'In The Design Studio' podcasts, or call us on 01202 426143 for a free consultation.

Initial Consultation

This is an informal visit, for client and design team to meet, look at examples of the work we do, to view the garden, discuss requirements and budget and agree the fee structure. There is no charge for this initial meeting. (Clients over 20 miles from Bournemouth will be asked to pay mileage.)

Survey & Site Analysis
Once the design quotation has been accepted by the client, a survey is undertaken either by the designer or an independent surveyor, according to the size and complexity of the site. This will involve taking measurements and photographs of the garden and making a detailed assessment of the site, including the footprint of the house, boundaries, aspect and levels.

2D Outline Concept Plan
An outline plan is drafted to scale according to the client brief and will comprise the main features of the design. At this stage, ideas can be worked through and amendments made as necessary.

Final 2D Presentation Plan
When you are happy with the proposals, a more detailed garden lay-out plan is drawn up which includes mood images, suggested materials, detailed labeling and any construction specifications for the landscaper.
Dorset 3D landscape modelling
3D models, visualisations and animation 'fly-throughs'
We can also create highly-realistic 3D landscape models, complete with lighting, water, planting and architectural features (including windows, doors and roofs, if required). This is particularly helpful when a client needs planning permission from the local council, or just a little help visualising the design. This service is also available to commercial architects and developers.
